RE: Afterschool Activities Programming
Welcome Cabin John Families,
The Cabin John PTSA has been working with the staff of the Montgomery County Recreation Department and
Ms.Carolyn McPherson of CJMS, to put together a comprehensive activities program for this school year. Beginning
in October, several programs will be held at CJMS on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, which are the
times that the county activity bus runs. Generally, these classes are free of charge. A booklet outlining the
programs will be available on the CJMS PTSA website after August 10 and in hard copy at Back to School Night.
We offer two sessions of classes for many offerings. Some special offerings are scheduled for consecutive days.

In addition to these county-organized opportunities, CJMS itself, through the
tireless efforts of Ms. Carolyn McPherson, offers many exciting opportunities for our students
including, just to name a few, Newspaper Club, Computer Club,Green Team,SGA,Best Buddies,Step Team
and more. Again,these programs are also Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Ms. McPherson can be reached at

The activity booklet will explain the registration process and transportation and holiday policies.
Please note that the annual activities fee applicable to your family must be paid in order for your child to
participate. Also,changes in classes may occur from time to time and will be posted on the applicable website.
